Meet John Welker
John joined the technical arm of SilverPoint in the early part of 2018 and quickly settled into his role within the team. A quick learner and a steady presence, John quietly goes about closing tickets like it’s no big deal.
An anime fan, John has curated a movie library larger than most small countries and has spent most of the COVID-period missing the time spent during his commute on HWY 1.
Question: Why did you decide to pursue a career in technology?
Answer: It was the one thing that felt natural for me to be doing, and was the one thing I have been able to picture myself doing as a career.
Question: Is there something specific about yourself which you would like to share?
Answer: I have strictly defined number of cats, which would commonly be known as too many.
Question: If you could invent a holiday, what would it involve?
Answer: A second Halloween, but instead of kids going door-to-door, we would launch candy out of t-shirt cannons into crows of adults.
Question: Growing up, what was your favourite TV Show?
Answer: Digimon

Answer: Cats
Question: What is your favourite word in the English language?
Answer: Colloquial, because it is the exact opposite of its own definition.
Question: Can you play any instruments?
Answer: Yes! Trumpets and Drums.
Question: If you were a superhero, what would your power be?
Answer: Long-range teleportation.
Question: When you were 5, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Answer: A firetruck.

Question: What electronic device can you not live without?
Answer: My computer. I love video games too much to go without it for a prolonged period.
Favourite Pastime: I know it’s cliche, but it has to be video games. I am a single-player strategy gamer at heart.
Question: Do you have any hobbies?
Answers: All of the hobbies. Petting cats. Cuddling cats. Scratching cats. Video games, Dungeons and Dragons, Snowboard. But mostly cats…
Question: If you were a pasta shape, what shape would you be and why?
Answer: Rotini, because sauce is the best and nothing holds sauce better than rotini.
Special Note: This last answer has caused some contentious internal debate about the sauce-holding capacities of different pasta shapes – let us know if you have any special thoughts on the subject. We will be performing a scientific study soon.
Favourite Food: For my birthday every year, my Mom makes the best seafood chowder which is served in a bread bowl, and it is the best thing in the universe.
Favourite Type of Candy: Chewy Sour Things (the sourer, the better)
Favourite Childhood Toy: A teddy bear I was given when I was 3-months old, which I still have today.
Favourite Flavour of Potato Chip: Salt ‘n Vinegar or Ketchup
